Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle holds monthly events for the homeless. Everything is free. Volunteers, the 4th Street CREW (Christians Ready, Equipped and Willing), help people select clothing from our clothes closet, then offer the use of shower facilities and a bag of hygiene items. Volunteers provide lunch, and sometimes haircuts are offered. Volunteers talk with the homeless individually to share the love of God, offer them a Bible if they need one, and invite them to church services.  Members from several churches come together for this event.

Everyone is encouraged to come by a Clean Start event just to see what is happening.  You don’t have to donate or volunteer – just drop by.  You can meet many like-minded people from various churches who are working at the event, plus you can meet some of the homeless people from our community in a safe and fun environment.  You will leave with a whole new perspective on the homeless people you see around town.  Come sit and talk with someone, or just learn by listening to others talking.  Everyone enjoys spending time together after lunch, and you may be surprised to learn there is a sense of community among the homeless.  It’s hard to explain, you really just have to experience it.
